Learn how piggers plan their festive fun!

The festive season is officially upon us, the snow is falling, the choirs are singing, the shops are buzzing and the Christmas markets are in full swing. With the big day just around the corner, Piggers are starting to make plans for the break and are preparing to enjoy the celebrations with family and friends.

That’s certainly going to be the case for our Pigger Nicola who is looking forward to spending Christmas with her family who all have lots of exciting activities planned. She says “I will be spending lots of quality time with my gorgeous husband and two beautiful boys. We are going to a Pantomime and to the Irn-Bru carnival”. Hope they all enjoy it! Helen is also spending Christmas day at home with her family. It certainly won’t be a quiet affair as her mum is preparing to cook dinner for all 30 of them! It will be extra special as her aunt and uncle are going to be coming over from America so they can all enjoy the day together. As Helen’s family are flying in from the States our fellow pigger Jenna will be flying out.  Two months ago Jenna left the comfort of her home in America to brave the winter cold in Scotland. Even though she has enjoyed her time here she is looking forward to going home to share the festivities with loved ones. Let’s hope she returns to bonnie Scotland again soon!

In the run up to the big day some Piggers are planning to go ice skating in George Square in Glasgow to get into the Christmas spirit. Our pigger Helen has a yearly tradition of going on Christmas Eve, although it doesn’t seem to be helping her ice skating skills as she explains “I’m like bambi on ice!”.  Fellow pigger Maureen is also going ice skating with her daughter so hopefully they can hold each other up! She explains that she is really looking forward to her family being all together this year: “my brother lives in Gosport with his family but he is now getting home from the Gulf after being there for a year. He is coming to spend a few days with our family over the Christmas period so I am really looking forward to that”. Maureen’s family is also flying to Wales at the end of December to celebrate with friends so the festive season is certainly going to be action packed!

It’s the opposite for our Pigger Darran, he’s looking forward to relaxing with his wife and the kids. He says: “We are not doing anything too extravagant, simply a quiet time at home with the kids”. It’s a similar story for our pigger Clare who is excited about spending her first Christmas in her new flat; she says “I’m looking forward to spending the holidays with my boyfriend as it’s our first Christmas together in our new flat. I’m excited to choose our first Christmas tree and decorate it in lovely colours. I’m also looking forward to spending Christmas day with my family; I’m sure we’ll do plenty of catching up over dinner and participate in having a nice glass of wine…or three!”

With so much going on around us, it is easy to get pulled into the hype in the run up to the big day but our piggers all agree that it’s not the gifts but the people around you that matter. So whatever you have planned for the Christmas period, we hope you relax and enjoy it with family and friends. Merry Christmas form everyone at New Pig and best wishes for 2013!
